It would be extremely helpful to have a vRO plug-in for vRLI that contains prebuilt workflows for common scenarios using the API.
Is it possible now or will it be possible in the short term to use the agent group name as an installation parameter for the Windows and Linux agent so it automatically gets the right config after installation without requiring administrative intervention?
Back in May of 2015, Carlos Sen of VMware published a video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHcT4xDyONc) on using vRLI to audit for license compliance using a License Compliance content pack. He provided no information on this nor was it linked to from the video, and I cannot find this in the Solution Exchange or anywhere else. Does this exist publicly, or something similar?
Another request: Ability to email a dashboard as a PDF or screenshot to a given recipient and on a scheduled basis. This is something vROps can do today, and would like the same behavior in Log Insight for things like executive-level reports.
Another customer request: In pie charts, the colors are automatically assigned and cannot be customized. This is a two-step request: 1.) Be able to assign colors selectively. For example, failed logins would be red; succeeded logins could be green. 2.) Always "pin" or reserve a given color (even if it isn't user-selectable) to a given field. By default, when the query runs and maybe different results are displayed, ...more »
I had this request from a potential customer today. The request is to be able to obfuscate sensitive information--if it exists based on a regex or query--when presented through the UI. The use case is if, for example, a SSN or credit card number is accidentally logged, they don't want that displayed in Log Insight. Since the system is designed to be immutable, which is good, that should never be displayed in a query, ...more »
With v3.6 of LI, is it possible to programmatically download the LI agent over unsecured HTTP? Previously, an API call had to be made over HTTPS, which poses a problem for scripting a download for the Windows agent, for example. I'm looking for the simplest way to retrieve the LI agent from the LI cluster (not cache it on a fileserver) so an application blueprint can more easily be made for vRA and added as a component. ...more »
Not sure if this belongs here, but wanted to post it for the LI folks' eyes before declaring it a bug. Basically, when trying to configure LI integration from vRO 7.0.1 via the Control Center, we get an "HTTP Status 500 - Failed to edit Log Insight Agent configuration file!" error message. Logs aren't particularly helpful and mention this message in /var/log/messages. It seems to happen regardless of the auth type (vRA ...more »
I read in the notes for the vRA content pack (https://solutionexchange.vmware.com/store/products/vra-6-1-log-insight-content-pack) that the use of the LI agent is recommended for all systems with the exception of vRO (slide 5). What exactly is the reason for this, and is this advise applicable to version 6 and 7 of vRO? What is the best and recommended way to get all relevant logs from Orchestrator out to LI? Does it ...more »
In the case where multiple vCenter servers (each with different hosts) are registered to a single PSC, having the ability for Log Insight to connect to said PSC and simultaneously register all included vCenters and hosts in a single step would be useful. This eliminates the need to register vCenter servers individually.
Since Log Insight v3.3 can now be licensed via a vCenter 6 license, having a similar ability like what has been possible in vRealize Orchestrator, to connect to vCenter and extract that license for Log Insight's use would eliminate the need to copy and paste a license key.
If a content pack is installed and a new version becomes available, it would be very useful to know, via an email, that an update has been posted and can be applied.
